NORWICH – During last week's common council meeting, board members voted to approve the Hope and Healing 5k run and walk, which is organized by the Chenango County Child Advocacy Center.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 24, and will start in East Park. The run is set to begin at 11 a.m., but will be preceded by registration at 10 a.m., and a Zumba session at 10:30 a.m. Participants may also register online starting Monday, March 23.

The Child Advocacy Center is a Norwich-based organization aiming to provide assistance and resources to children who are victims of abuse, assault, or are witnesses to violent crime. The group hopes that the upcoming 5K will help to raise awareness about issues relating to child abuse.
