NORWICH – In the second game of NHS’ young volleyball season the Purple Tornado playing on their home court, dispatched the Oneonta Yellowjackets in four games on Thursday night.

Norwich took an early set-back from visiting Oneonta, dropping the first match 25-23, but spun their first match loss into motivation headed into the second game of the night.

“We faltered in our first game, we just didn’t pull it together, but from there on in, we did very well,” said Norwich Head Coach Shelly Alger.

And boy did Norwich pull it together after their first game - as the dynamic Tornado team chugged right along erasing any memory of their first game of the night as they kept their composure- winning back to back tight games over the Yellowjackets 25-22 and 26-24. In the fourth and final game of the contest, Norwich won by their largest margin 25-18.

“Tonight, it was a hard fought match” said Alger on the close back and forth matches between the two rival programs.
