NORWICH – After taking on STAC opponents in Maine-Endwell, Susquehanna Valley and Union-Endicott just the night before, the Norwich Purple Tornado wrestlers hit the mat again, this time taking on fellow Chenango County foe Oxford-Greene on senior night.

Senior Night is always special for parents and student-athletes alike, however for Norwich’s Andrew Brown it was doubly special as he would reach the milestone of winning his 100th match of his varsity wrestling career.

Prior to the match, Norwich head coach Bob Hagenbuch honored the team’s four seniors; Andrew Brown, Joey Marvin, Marshall Morris and Tyler Rice for their accomplishments and contributions to the Norwich wrestling program.

In the 118 weight class, O-G’s Kad’n Wakefield won by fall over Norwich’s Regan Roach in 2:56. Roach would later pick up his first varsity win by defeating Oxford-Greene’s Vicky Fleury in a 7-3 decision.

Next in a 126 match-up, Norwich senior Andrew Brown claimed victory number 99, by defeating O-G’s Gabe Freeman in 34 seconds. Brown’s next match-up for his 100th win would come by pinning O-G’s Aiden March in 2:36.

“Andrew getting his 100 wins is pretty special” said Norwich Head Coach Bob Hagenbuch.

Upon reaching the major milestone Brown said, “Coach Hagenbuch told me we were going to do it and we did it…It feels good that we finally got a chance to wrestle. We didn’t think we were going to get any season this year.”
