WINDSOR- On Wednesday February 24, the Purple Tornado varsity wrestling team traveled to face the Black Knights of Windsor. Neither team was announced a winner of the dual meet at the end of the night as there are no postseason playoffs or divisional championships due to this year’s condensed winter season.

Regardless, Norwich put on quite a showing against some stiff competition from the Black Knight’s wrestlers.

In the first round of matches, Windsor’s Noah Taylor was a winner over Norwich’s Regan Roach by a 14-0 major decision in the 118 weight class.

Experienced Purple Tornado Senior Andrew Brown hit the mats against Windsor’s Ethan Dibble, with Brown promptly pinning Dibble in 5:15 in the 126 weight bout.

In the 138 bout the Black Knight’s Troy Hayes defeated Nate Murphy of Norwich in a close 6-3 decision. Despite the loss this showed a large improvement for Murphy, as the last time Hayes and Murphy, Hayes won in a major decision 14-1 last season.

In the 145 Brady Smith of Norwich defeated Ryan Kennedy in an overtime 5-3 decision. Windsor’s Dante Rorke defeated Norwich’s Marshall Morris by pin in 3:13 in the 152 weight class and in the 160 weight class Mason Edwards of Norwich won against Regan Conrad via pin in 52 seconds.
