Norwich Ward Two Alderman Brian Doliver Announces Run For City Mayor

NORWICH - In his eighth year as City of Norwich Ward Two Alderman Brian Doliver has officially announced his candidacy for the Office City of Norwich Mayor.

Doliver is a lifelong resident of the City of Norwich and a graduate of Norwich High School. Doliver has been employed by the Guernsey Memorial Library for 25 years and also serves as caretaker of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Norwich.

“I believe my extensive experience with the City of Norwich Common Council has prepared me for the role of Mayor. I’ve established a good rapport with the Common Council, Department Heads, and am confident that together we can move Norwich forward,” said Doliver of his candidacy.

“The priority remains to have a balanced budget that is fiscally responsible while providing and improving upon the quality of Public Services we offer, acting upon City Revitalization by stimulating economic development in our downtown areas, as well as improving our local economy and the quality of life for City residents and their families in our neighborhoods,” said Doliver.

Having served as alderman under three different mayoral administrations, Doliver has exhibited his leadership abilities through serving in the following roles for the City of Norwich during his term as Alderman which include; Chairman of Public Safety/Public Works Committee, Chairman of Personnel/Finance Committee, Acting Mayor City of Norwich, and president of the City of Norwich Common Council in 2020.

Additionally, Doliver has served on multiple City of Norwich boards and commissions such as the City of Norwich board of assessment review, parks commission and traffic commission.

Brian and his wife Valerie have always lived in the City of Norwich where they have raised their three children; Katie, Ryan and Raegan.

“Why choose Norwich to raise a family? That’s what we want our younger generation to do; to choose Norwich as the place they want to live, to work, and the place where they want to plant their roots and raise their children,” he said.
