Sheriff’s office seeking man who assaulted police officer Police are searching for Seymour Shaver following the suspected assault on a sheriff's deputy Monday night.

PHARSALIA – The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help with finding a man who allegedly assaulted a sheriff’s deputy Monday night in the Town of Pharsalia.

According to a statement from the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 8:26 p.m. on January 4, a sheriff’s deputy arrived in the area of Balsam Tyler Road in the Town of Pharsalia for a warrant arrest.

Office representatives said while attempting to take Seymour Shaver, 44, of Pharsalia into custody on Monday, Shaver assaulted the officer causing the officer injuries.

They said the deputy was transported to CMH and then to Upstate University Hospital for serious, non-life threatening injuries, and an arrest warrant for assault on a police officer has been signed by the Town of Pharsalia Judge.

Police ask that if you locate the suspect, please contact them at (607) 334-2000. Police add that Shaver should be considered armed and dangerous.
