CHENANGO COUNTY – In early December, Chenango County completed the installation of two Ultra 96% efficient boilers in the 1990 Wing of the County Office Building; replacing piping, fittings, valves and controls, and integrating new control software throughout the building.

County officials said the goal of the project was to make the Chenango County Office Building more cost-effective and to offer the ability to control zones more effectively and efficiently for even greater energy savings.

Officials said Chenango County was designated a Clean Energy Community in February 2019, after completing four of the ten high impact actions identified by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) as part of its Clean Energy Communities Program.

They said the designation allowed the Chenango County Planning Department the opportunity to apply for a grant up to $150,000 toward an additional clean energy project, with no local cost share.
