CHENANGO – This afternoon the Chenango Chamber of Commerce will honor Democratic Congressman Anthony Brindisi for his work and commitment to Chenango County.

From noon to 1 p.m. The Chamber will host a virtual ceremony with Brindisi, including a question and answer session and an update on the chamber’s activities. You can attend the event by registering at register@chenangony.org.

Brindisi is a first term representative, who is in a closely contested election against former congresswoman Claudia Tenney, who used to hold his seat. The timing of today’s event, just before the November election and with many businesses still closed, has drawn criticism from some.

Tenney, who helps run a business in Chenango County said, “My family and I have been running a business in Chenango County providing jobs, paying taxes, and producing goods for industries around the nation since 1946. We have been members of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the true voice for small business for over 30 years,” she said.

“Brindisi hasn’t run a manufacturing business in Chenango County. He has voted consistently for policies in Albany and Washington that have made New York one of the worst places to do business.”
