Pedestrian Walking Dog Hit And Killed By Vehicle Along Rt. 12 In Norwich

NORWICH - One person was pronounced deceased on scene following a motor vehicle accident on Route 12 in the Town of Norwich.

Police have not yet released the names of those involved in the accident.

According to New York State Police Troop C Public Information Officer Aga Dembinska, at approximately 9:50 p.m. on July 13 New York State Police at Norwich responded to a fatal motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian near Fred’s Inn in Norwich.

“The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene,” said Dembinska. “The Chenango County Medical Examiner responded and the individual was transported to Lourde’s for an autopsy.”

“The pedestrian was walking a dog at the time of the accident, and it also died due to its injuries.”

She said the operator of the vehicle is being cooperative with New York State Police Investigators.

She added that the investigation is ongoing, and additional information will be released when available.
