CHENANGO COUNTY – On Friday, Chenango County moved into phase three of the New York Forward reopening plan. Commerce Chenango held a webinar featuring speakers from the department of health and local business owners to discuss what moving forward will look like.

According to Chenango County Director of Environmental Health Isaiah Sutton, two industries will be reopening in phase three, personal care and food service.

"With personal care that's going to include tattoo and piercing facilities, appearance enhancement practitioners, massage therapy, spa's, cosmetology services, specialty service in UV or Non-UV tanning and waxing. So this really does open up kind of a lot of stuff we might of thought would be originally opened up with hair salons," said Sutton.

Sutton reminds business owners that reopening facilities should file an attestation with the state that says they've read the applicable guidance for their industry as well as complete a safety plan template to keep on hand.

Food service has been expanded to include limited indoor seating in addition to the outdoor seating and take out options.

The restrictions for indoor seating are each room can not exceed fifty percent occupancy while guests must be able to maintain six feet apart from each other on all sides.

"If your fifty percent number is twenty five but you can only get fifteen people in there safely then your number is fifteen," said Sutton.
