OXFORD – From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 5 at the Oxford High School, Promote Oxford and Helping Hands are hosting a community donation event.

The drive-thru event will provide community members with one bag of hygiene products, provided by Helping Hands, and one bag of perishable food items, provided by Promote Oxford. Only one of each bag will be handed out per car.

Sarah Smith, a volunteer for Promote Oxford, said the event will be open at 10:30 a.m. to senior citizens, 65 and up.

"They are the more vulnerable population and they're the ones in this area who really need it the most," said Smith.

Promote Oxford will have 400 bags of perishable food items including milk, eggs, cheese, meat, honey, sour cream, and produce. Smith said most items are coming straight from local farms.
