Commerce Chenango helps fuel the front lines with food

CHENANGO COUNTY - Commerce Chenango is helping to support staff at Chenango Memorial UHS by providing them food with funds raised from the community.

According to Commerce Chenango CEO Kerri Green, the “Fueling the Front Lines,” initiative was formed as part of an effort to support first responders during the coronavirus pandemic.

Green said so far approximately $5,000 has been raised to provide UHS staff members breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

“We were just trying to find ways that we can connect more with and better support our community,” said Green. “Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are our delivery days, and we try to make sure we deliver the locally purchased food to Chenango Memorial Hospital at times when staff are changing shifts for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.”

“We make sure we’re buying food from local businesses, and they’ve been give us food at a great price to help us with our mission, and we greatly appreciate that.”
