NORWICH – Caregivers at UHS Chenango Memorial are in for a sweet treat thanks to a Norwich chocolate shop closed due to coronavirus precautions.

“The Parson’s Daughter has the unique opportunity to sweeten the lives of the caregivers and workers at UHS Chenango Memorial in recognition for their dedication and loyalty to their profession and our community,” said Sharon Jeffer, owner of the iconic downtown Norwich establishment.

The sole-proprietor thanked her customers for making the donation possible.

“My customers have provided me with prosperity and success, and I honor them for enabling me to make this gift to the hospital’s staff,” she said.

According to Anne English, Director of Human Resources at UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital, the hospital was grateful for the generous donation.

“We were so touched when Sharon contacted us, and expressed her wish to donate her stock of Easter candy for our staff,” English said.

“We know that she, like many small business owners, have been impacted greatly by the stay at home orders necessary to control this virus. That makes her generosity even more meaningful to our team here at UHS Chenango Memorial.”

According to Jeffer, The Parson’s Daughter will re-open as soon as it’s safe to do so.

“Easter is one of my favorite seasons in my shop. I miss seeing all of my customers, and look forward to serving all of you soon,” she said. “Until then, stay home, stay safe and stay kind.”

UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital is a member of United Health Services, a locally owned not-for-profit 916-bed hospital and health care system serving the Greater Binghamton region from more than 40 locations around New York’s Southern Tier.
