Two Hospitalized After Greene School Vehicle Crashes

GREENE – Two people were hospitalized with moderate to severe wounds following a Greene school vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon – fire department officials said the vehicle crashed head-on into a tree.

According to Genegantslet Fire Chief Ken Whitmore, at approximately 3:35 p.m. on Tuesday, emergency responders arrived on Genegantslet Road where a Greene school suburban hit a tree – pinning the driver of the vehicle and injuring a bus monitor.

Whitmore said no students were in the vehicle at the time of the accident, but that the two occupants were transported to Wilson Memorial Hospital.

“The first patient we had out in five minutes, and the second patient had to be cut out it took approximately 15 minutes,” said Whitmore. “We were at the scene for about an hour and a half.”

Whitmore said that Greene EMS assisted on the scene with their extrication team.
