NORWICH – The Purple Tornado honored the three seniors on this year’s roster – Dante Geislinger, Mikey Squires and Dakota Powers – prior to the start of the match against Chenango Forks but key pins at 145 and 170 pounds allowed the Blue Devils to spoil the senior night celebration for Norwich.

Geislinger, Squires and Powers all earned wins during their final match on the home mat while Andrew Brown, Joey Marvin, Max Morris, and Mason Edwards all picked up another victory for Norwich. The Tornado, however, gave up four bouts due to forfeits and lost 12 points due to the pinfalls at 145 and 170.

The 145 pound match kicked off the Southern Tier Athletic Conference divisional match with Norwich’s Ashton Jenkins leading 4-2 late in the third period. Zander Arnold of Chenango Forks scored two points with a reversal, tying the match at 4-4 but quickly put Jenkins’ back down to the mat to secure the 5:30 pin for his team.

Marvin of the Tornado was well on his way to at least a decision win, leading 9-2 in the third. Starting in the down spot of the 152 pound bout, Marvin reversed and pinned Forks’ Lee Abby at 4:39 to tie the match at 6-6 to give the home team fast response.
