UV, B-G and Oxford handed MAC losses

BINGHAMTON – A lower scoring first half affair became a 21 point victory for the host Saints, snapping Norwich’s six-game winning streak Tuesday night with a final of 65-44.

The Tornado and Seton Catholic combined for a total of 12 points in the first quarter and went into the halftime break with a score of 17-16 in favor of the home team.

Unfortunately for the visiting team, Seton’s leading scorer Brett Rumple was able to find the basket in the second half to lead his team to the victory.

While the game was tightly contested, the Norwich defense held the Saints go-to guy to just six points. However, Rumple tallied 29 in the second half to finish with a game-high 35 points.

Norwich’s turnovers and 18 second-half free throws led to Seton Catholic taking over the lead for good in the final 16 minutes of play.

Overall, the Tornado had a tough time scoring as the starters combined for 25 of the team’s 44 points with JT Vinal leading the team with 12.

Tommy Flanagan and Carson Maynard, the team’s scoring leaders for the season, came away with just 13 points between the two of them. Flanagan ended the night with 11 points – his final three coming with 20 seconds left in the game – while Maynard registered two points in the second quarter.
