Story Telling And Adventures Await At The One Community, One Book Event

Story telling and adventures await at the One Community, One Book event Improve Norwich Now hosts the first One Community, One Book event November 30th starting at 9 a.m. at the Guernsey Memorial Library. This event will feature a book reading with author Suzanne Bloom of her newest children's book, “I Just Like You” followed by a craft and scavenger hunt activity.

NORWICH – On Saturday, November 30th from 9 a.m to 11:30 a.m. Improve Norwich Now will be hosting One Community, One Book at the Guernsey Memorial Library.

One Community, One Book is an event where children will come listen to author, Suzanne Bloom, read her book, “I Just Like You”. Following the book reading the children will participate in two activities relating to the book. The first activity is a craft where children will create their own coloring book using illustrations from Blooms book.

Following the craft, children will be given a map of participating local businesses and venture out to in search of clues for a scavenger hunt. Once five clues are collected, the children then return to Guernsey Memorial Library for a prize. Book readings will cycle throughout the day, with the last one taking place around 11 a.m.

“One Community, One Book is based on a model of literacy that pulls together a whole community,” says Co-Founder of I.N.N. Jen Westervelt. “We're also intentionally launching this initiative on small business Saturday so that we can also promote small business in our area.”
