NORWICH – The Chenango County Board of Election finished the absentee and military ballot counts Wednesday in two closely contested races, naming Shawn Sastri as the next City of Norwich mayor, and Timothy C. Brown as Town of North Norwich supervisor.

Democratic Party Commissioner Carol Franklin said the final results were not finished until the office had allowed a seven day window for absentee ballots to come in and another 14 day window for absentee military ballots to arrive.

Franklin said the other races that had been contested would very likely not change due to the wide margins between candidates.
