Multiple drug busts in Chenango County bring in nearly $100,000 in illicit materials (Submitted Photo)

NORWICH – New York State Police say that two individuals are behind bars following a series of drug busts in Chenango County that held a street value of nearly $100,000.

According to a statement from state police, on November 14 Jordan A. Melendez, 28 of Sinking Spring, PA and Kimberly Rivas, 24 of Mohnton, PA were both arrested and charged with second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A-II felony, and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony.

Police said the arrests stemmed from search warrants executed at multiple locations in Chenango County and were carried out by the Troop C Violent Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team (VGNET), NYSP Special Operations Team (SORT) and Uniformed members of Troop C.

State Police recovered approximately twenty pounds of marijuana that held a street value of nearly $10k, a pound and a half of crystal meth with a street value of over $50k, and one ounce of pure Fentanyl with a street value of approximately $36k.
