OXFORD – The Lady Blackhawks rebounded from their setback suffered on senior night to Unadilla Valley to take down Delhi in a Midstate Athletic Conference crossover game Friday, winning 2-1.

Oxford took the 1-0 lead with 20:16 left in the first half after Hailey Fleury took a low-lining cross sent into the box by teammate Emily Barrows and one-timed the ball into the back of the net.

Following the halftime break, the Lady Bulldogs tied the game at 1-1 ad Abbie Leahy sent a shot attempt past Lexi Kohlhepp – Oxford’s stand-out keeper – with 30:30 remaining in the contest.

Returning the favor after her first half goal, Fleury served in a cross ball to Ellie Ryan. Ryan took a second to settle and quickly rifled off a shot that went into the upper right corner of the goal and into the net. Delhi’s Sylvia Liddell couldn’t get a hand on it to knock the ball away.

Ryan’s goal with 26:45 left in the game proved to be the game winner as Oxford’s Kohlhepp fought off several shots attempts. One save deflected off the senior’s foot and she moved quickly to recover and get back on top of the ball before Delhi could rip off another shot.
