ROME – In the 3.1 mile race held by the Rome Free Academy, seven Norwich Tornado runners participated in the 2019 Bill Coughlin Cross Country event on Saturday at the Staley Upper Elementary school in Rome. 

With only four runners for the boys and three registered for the girls team, both Norwich squad’s finished with an incomplete team score as there needs to be five team members to race. 

The Tornado’s Steven Kaman was the first Norwich boy to cross the finish line, coming in ninth out of the 126 runner field. His 5:51 pace for each mile gave him a final time of 18:08.4.

Makaio Sutton was just five seconds off his teammate’s pace to place 11th, crossing the line at the 18:25.2 mark.
