DELHI – Taking on the longtime school rival in SUNY Delhi’s pool Friday night, the Norwich Girls Swim Team handed the Oneonta Yellowjackets a 113-67 loss, remaining without a loss in dual meets for the season. The Lady Purple Tornado swam to first place finishes in all but two events – one being the diving event which Norwich has no divers on the roster.

Norwich took 1-2-3 finishes in two events and had a top five place winner in all other events the team had swimmers in.

Nearly eclipsing her best time of the season was the Tornado’s distance swimmer Emerson Burton, swimming the 500 freestyle in 6:17.59. Her teammates Haley Shattuck and Tanner Olds touched the wall shortly after Burton, giving Norwich the second sweep of the top three places.

The first came in the 50 yard freestyle sprint race with Katie Blaisure taking home first with her time of 26.12. Colleague Angela Carlson touched the wall at 26.61 and Norwich’s Margie Winter was right behind her with a time of 27.66.

The three were joined by Riley Revoir in the 200 yard medley event, where the foursome swam to a first place finish at 2:02.25 – over 11 seconds faster than the second place Oneonta relay team.
