NORWICH – Needing to win Thursday game against Seton Catholic to make sectional playoffs, the Lady Tornado Soccer team put six goals on the score board and held the Saints to a shutout victory on Norwich’s senior night, securing a spot in the postseason.

At the halftime intermission, head coach Doug Coggins and the Norwich Girls Soccer Booster’s Club recognized five girls – Emily Davis, Jenea Evans, Katie Gawronski, Halea Eaton and Abby Flynn – as it was the final home game in Purple Tornado home uniform for their career.

Prior to the break, Norwich went up 2-0 in the game as junior Sydney Coggins recorded both goals, giving her 21 and 22 on the season.

Coggins’ first goal was assisted by Sarah Davis as her teammate delivered a ball from the middle of the box to left side where the junior was awaiting the through ball. Coggins took a single dribble for room then fired a hard dribbler to the opposite post for the 1-0 advantage with 23:58 remaining in the half.
