NEW BERLIN – Facing the recently ninth ranked team in Class C for New York State Girls Soccer – the Unatego Spartans – Unadilla Valley was able to score a goal against the undefeated team but fell 4-1 Wednesday afternoon.

Unatego rifled a total of 31 shots in the direction of UV’s keeper Meegan White. The senior goalie who had her work cut out for her, made some stellar saves to keep the game within reach for her team. White ended the afternoon with 26 stops in the game.

The Storm’s lone goal of the match came with 29:23 remaining as Kyleigh George found enough room to send one past Meghan Perry – the Spartans’ goalie – after curling into the left side of the cage. The goal scored against Unatego is the only the second allowed by the Spartans all season.

The visiting Unatego team scored two early in the game, both coming from the foot of Paige McCoy. McCoy recorded a hat trick in the start of the second after taking the second assist from Dana Stepp.

Stepp later registered her own goal with 10:07 left in the game as she received a pass from teammate Kylie Mussaw and fired the ball into the back of the net out of the reach of UV’s White.
