UV wins two straight MAC matches

OXFORD – The Oxford Blackhawks golf team picked up the third win of 2019 behind a strong round from the top five head coach Lance Thorne played against Delhi Wednesday afternoon, defeating Delhi 243-272.

Oxford senior Dylan Conklin came away as the match’s top medalist, turning in a 43 (9-over par) round for the front nine, par 34 at Blue Stone Golf Course. It was Conklin’s lowest round of the season thus far with his previous best was a 48.

Shooting a 48 were two of Conklin’s Blackhawks teammates William Kelsey and Christian Paden. Finishing one stroke back of Kelsey and Paden was Nick Cirello, carding a 49. Matt Roach was the fifth best score with a 55.

Delhi was led by Corey Zwick’s 49 nine-hole round. Sean Carron scored a 51 for the second best tally for the Bulldogs. Bronson Thompson and Cameron Thompson each shot a 54 while colleague Ryan Doenges ended the day with a 64.

Oxford (3-8) hosts a Unadilla Valley team that has won two straight matches this week. The contest is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at Blue Stone Golf Course.
