UV’s George scores two, Storm beat Walton 2-1

OXFORD – Freshman Hailey Flurey of the Blackhawks recorded her first varsity career hat trick Thursday afternoon as the host Oxford team defeated Midstate Athletic Conference foe Sidney 3-0.

Her first goal was the first tally of the contest as just 14 minutes ticked off the clock. Flurey took a pass from Emily Barrows and rifled the ball into the back of the net for her team’s 1-0 advantage.

With 12:34 left in the first half, Flurey recorded her second goal and teammate Ellie Ryan put a Kaylin Tefft corner past the Sidney keeper less than a minute later to go up 3-0.

With 20 minutes remaining in the game, Flurey once again beat the Warriors goalie to finish with her hat trick.

Sidney outshot the Blackhawks 11-10 but Oxford’s Lexi and Madison Kohlhepp made 10 saves with the 11th Warriors attempt being off target.

Meghan Greco of the visiting team made six stops between the posts.

Oxford takes on Delhi next on Tuesday. The contest is at home for the Blackhawks with a 4:30 p.m. start time.
