GILBERTSVILLE – Otselic Valley’s Garrett Wood and Lane Adams had a connection in Monday’s 5-0 win over host Gilbertsville-Mount Upton. The two Vikings either assisted or scored on four of the team’s five goals in the contest while the rest of the team’s passing and teamwork helped set up the big non-league win for OV.

“[The Vikings] boys worked well together today,” said Otselic Valley head coach Jake Preston. “We had a lot of great passing in tight spaces and we had many guys [Braden Davis, Lane Adams, Garrett Wood, and Evan Baker] do a great job having a purpose with their passes.”

Preston also stated his defense of Carter Smith, Daren Grabow, Brandon Brown and Max Akers helped goalkeeper Cody O’Hara keep the ball out of the net. O’Hara stopped eight shots from reaching the back of the net before being subbed out by Gavin Hazzard for the final 20 minutes of play.

OV’s Dakota Hackett put his team on the scoreboard first after a missed clear found his right foot and he one timed the ball past GMU’s keeper.

Wood scored the next one on the assist from Adams for the second goal and the two switched roles for the third and final goal scored in the first half.

The two second half goals came from Adams to record his hat trick for the contest while Wood delivered both passes to his teammate.
