Plymouth Couple Charged After Reports Of Abused Child

PLYMOUTH – According to the Chenango County Sheriff's Office, a Plymouth couple is facing felony charges after a Chenango Memorial Hospital staff member reported seeing a five year old male with serious bruising throughout his body.

On September 5 members of the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office Detectives Division responded to Chenango Memorial Hospital and police said they observed a five year old child with serious bruising and what appeared tape marks on the child’s arms. The child was treated for the injuries and later released to the custody of the sheriff’s office.

Chenango County Sheriff Ernest Cutting said detectives and deputies located a second child, a four year old female with injuries similar the five year old males’ injuries. The female was then taken to Chenango Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Samantha D. Smith, 29, and Vincent J. Guglielmo Jr., 38, both of Plymouth were charged with endangering the welfare of a child, second-degree assault, and third-degree assault following a police investigation.
