OXFORD – 6 On The Square is pleased to welcome back The Heather Pierson Acoustic Trio at 2 p.m. on July 7 as the first Free Sunday Afternoon Concert in Oxford’s Lafayette Park.

According to event representatives, at first glance, Heather Pierson appears to be the girl next door – youthful, friendly, and a little bit shy. At the seat of a piano or brandishing an acoustic guitar, however, she transforms into a world-class performer, baring her soul in a manner that leaves her listeners breathless and aching for more.

Heather is an award-winning pianist, multi-genre singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, arranger, bandleader, and performer. From New Orleans style jazz and blues to rousing Americana and poignant folk narratives, Heather’s memorable, intimate, and cathartic live performances, feature her virtuosity on piano, her bell¬-tone vocals, and her commanding yet playful stage presence - all while wielding a tenor banjo, melodica or acoustic guitar.

Story Continues Below Adverts

Officials said her music moves seamlessly and effortlessly from one style to the next, and a growing catalog of wildly divergent CD releases reflects her boundless creativity.

After enjoying modest success with the release of several solo records, Heather burst upon the national folk scene in 2015 with her trio. The Heather Pierson Acoustic Trio features Shawn Nadeau on upright bass and Davy Sturtevant on, as Heather often puts it from stage, “everything else” – guitar, mandolin, dobro, fiddle, and cornet.

There will be 2 more Free Concerts in Lafayette Park in July: on July 14, Bon Debarras takes the stage, a fusion of Quebecois folk music, traditional step-dancing, and global influences. The third free concert features The Brothers Blue. Hailing from Western NY, they are a hybrid blend of country, bluegrass, Cajun, and Irish music woven together with their 3-part harmonies.

Officials said these free concerts in Lafayette Park are made possible through the generosity of the R. C. Smith Foundation and NBT Bank.

6 On The Square, Inc. is an intimate, not for profit, volunteer-based acoustic music and arts venue located at 6 Lafayette Park in downtown Oxford.
