CHENANGO COUNTY – Five municipalities, the City of Norwich, McDonough, North Norwich, Smithville, and Smyrna, will host Republican primaries today.

The primaries will be from noon to 9 p.m. at polling sites throughout the county.

Primary elections have been combined in New York State and there will no longer be a September primaries.

Local, county, state, and federal offices, with the exception of the president, will be conducted each June.

This so the last primary the will take place from noon to 9 p.m.

The following primary elections will be 6 am to 6 pm due to changes in state law.

“We really want to encourage people to go out and vote,” said Chenango County Republican Commissioner of Elections Mary Lou A. Monahan. “For these primaries you can only vote if you are a registered Republican, and if you’re not registered now, please do so before this fall’s election.
