Blackhawks’ score 20 runs in senior night win

OXFORD – The Oxford Blackhawk seniors went out on their home with a bang, scoring 20 runs on 14 hits in the 20-8 win over Midstate Athletic Conference foe Bainbridge-Guilford Wednesday afternoon.

Brad Beckwith – one of Oxford’s five seniors – led the team at the plate as he came away with three hits in four at-bats, producing an RBI and scoring four runs in the game.

Senior teammates Jason Davis and Josh Christian recorded two hits each in the win and combined for a total of six RBIs, sending three across the plate a piece.

Garrett Depew and CJ Smith didn’t register a hit in the contest but Depew had the good-eye for Oxford’s batters, drawing four walks throughout the contest.

The Blackhawks started the game with two runs in the bottom of the first to take the early lead. However, the Bobcats responded but scoring three in the second.

Tom Palmatier of B-G sent a screaming line-drive to centerfield. His single resulted in Owen Drown coming in for the second run of the inning. Palmatier later stole home for the final run of the inning.
