NEW BERLIN – Unadilla Valley-Gilbertsville Mount Upton’s Cameron Osborne was locked in at the plate, going 4-for-5 for the game as the Storm topped Afton with a convincing 14-1 win Monday afternoon.

Two of Osborne’s hits were for an extra base, hitting two double-base knocks. He also recorded two RBIs and pitched the last two innings of the contest.

The Storm’s Colin Grant picked up the win for the home team, pitching the first three innings before Andrew Jackson threw the fourth and fifth. Osborne entered in the sixth and struck out five on 21 pitches to close the game. All three combined for 12 strikeouts on the mound.

Afton put a run on the board during their first trip to the plate at Brady Buttice knocked a fly ball to left field for a single. Buttice then put himself into scoring position by stealing second base.

Teammate George Palmetier brought Buttice in for the score as Palmetier drilled the ball to centerfield that fell into the gap for a single.

Grant was able to get out of the inning by striking out J Grover in the next at-bat.
