Former Oxford TA Charged With Rape Of Student Offered A Few Months In Jail

NORWICH – A former Oxford Academy teacher's assistant, who was recently fired after the New York State Police charged her in January with raping a middle-school student, was offered a plea deal by prosecutors that would require her to become a registered sex offender and serve six months in jail.

Heaven L. Parrish, 20, of Smithville Flats was arrested on Jan. 2. Parrish is charged with second-degree criminal sex act, a class D felony, second-degree rape, a class D felony, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor. She was a full-time teacher's aide at the middle school.

She has pleaded not guilty.
