Greene’s Kennedy deals no-hitter to Oxford on Wednesday

OTEGO – Oxford’s Allison Beckwith was a stud in the circle as she struck out 17 Unatego Spartans’ batters in the Blackhawks’ 7-2 win on the road Thursday afternoon.

To go along with her pitching performance, Beckwith went 3-for-3 at the plate ripping two doubles and batting two teammates in for runs.

Also, having a big day at the plate for the Blackhawks was Tricia Bohannon, sparking the offense with three hits in four trips as the dish.

The scoring started for Oxford in the top of the third when Lilie Horton started the rally with a lead-off single. Catherine Northrup pushed Horton up to third with her grounder that caused an error by Unatego’s catcher, Hali Lucia.

With Bohannon at the plate, Horton was able to score on a passed ball for the first run. Later in the at-bat, Bohannon sent a screaming liner to the right fielder to score Northrup from third.

Two batters later, Beckwith drilled a line drive down the third baseline that resulted in a stand-up double and an RBI with Bohannon crossing home plate.

Oxford added another three runs in the top of the fifth as Bohannon scored by a Trinity Vargas double to centerfield. Beckwith sent Vargas in for a run with her second double of the contest and teammate Jesse Howe hit a 1-out single to the shortstop, scoring Beckwith.
