Coming Soon; Trump Unleashed

The official name was “The Special Counsel to Investigate Russian Interference with the 2016 Presidential Election and Related Matters.” However, to most of us it was the “Mueller Investigation” and to some others, it was a witch-hunt. Whichever you prefer to call it, the facts are the investigation cost millions of dollars, employed at least 20 lawyers and 40 FBI agents, who issued 2,800 subpoenas, and interviewed no less than 500 witnesses over almost two years. In the end, we learned our President did not collude or conspire with any foreign country to win the 2016 presidential election – and there are actually some who are sad that our President didn’t break the law.

Half of our country’s population is still not over the fact the President of the United States isn’t Hillary Clinton. Three years ago I was among the many who doubted Donald Trump would be our 45th President. Ms. Clinton was far from a first choice for many, but imagining ‘The Donald’ in the White House wasn’t so easy either. Remember back to his cringe-worthy campaign with “R” rated comments and his crass in-your-face style. It was nothing we’d seen before.

On the other hand, Hillary was everything we’d seen before, particularly HER collusion with the Democratic National Committee to get Bernie Sanders out of the way. Her ascendance to the Presidency seemed certain. And, she did manage to tally up the majority of the popular vote. If not for that annoying detail in the Constitution called the Electoral College we would be calling her Madam President.

Story Continues Below Adverts

For months we’ve heard formerly respected people use strong words used to describe President Trump’s legal woes. The past CIA Director John Brennan used ‘treasonous’ a couple of weeks ago in his prediction of a certain Trump indictment. Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe said many times in public “I can’t say for sure Donald Trump isn’t a Russian asset.” And countless others said our President will end up in handcuffs because of his obvious treachery and sedition.

Now that President Trump has been cleared of collusion and given a half-hearted pass concerning obstruction, you’d think it is time to move forward. Well, that thought is wrong, because there is still unhealthy hatred for this President. The Democrats are so furious our President didn’t break the law with Russian assistance that they are going to find another crime or high misdemeanor somewhere no matter how exhausted are the American people.

During the investigation phase and before the release of his report, Robert Mueller was the hero and savior of the “never Trumpers.” Resisters of Trump knew collusion and conspiracy were afoot, and the former Marine and once FBI director was going to find it and indict the President and put his closest family members behind bars. Alas, this past Sunday, a four-page letter from the Justice Department, ended their dreams of Hillary’s revenge.

It won’t be long before we should hear Robert Mueller was also a Russian plant and all sorts of other excuses for the President’s acquittal. There will be no satisfying the President’s detractors until he is out of office – which now might not happen until 2025. Only the furthest left Democrats in Congress are hanging their impeachment hats on these six words from the DoJ letter; “it also does not exonerate him.” The more rational members of Congress will hopefully get back to the country’s business. Some officials might even consider and apology, but don’t hold your breath while waiting.

Then there is the other, more menacing side of the coin. If you think President Trump was loud and brash for the past two years, just hold on tight for the next two years as we see an even more emboldened POTUS. The Mueller findings of no collusion and the wishy-washy decision about obstruction will be like spinach is to Popeye. The Democrats and the news media are soon going to eat humble pie, with the President pushing heaping helpings into their big mouths. And don’t forget the investigators might deserve some investigation of their own.

This man, the President, probably feels like he has just survived a coup attempt and no one should doubt he might be looking for some payback for the two years of torment he’s endured. The President said on Monday “There are a lot of people out there that have done some very, very evil things, very bad things. I would say treasonous things against our country.” And he followed that statement with “Those people will certainly be looked at; I’ve been looking at them for a long time.” Even worse than the President’s imminent retribution, the Democrats should be concerned about the voter’s wrath in 2020.
