BAINBRIDGE – A strong first quarter, both offensively and defensively, gave the Lady Bobcats a big start to the game and they carried it through the remainder of the contest as Bainbridge-Guilford took down the Oxford Blackhawks 76-38 in the opening round of the Section IV Class C tournament Tuesday.

B-G’s Selfridge duo paced the home team in the first as Erica and Abi combined to score 20 of the Bobcats’ in the stanza. Erica was lights out from long-range, hitting three 3-pointers in the opening eight minutes of play.

She added another basket from inside the arc to give her 11 for the quarter while sister Abi did most of her work from the inside, scoring four and added a made bucket from behind the 3-point line.

Oxford’s Caitlyn Quigley and Karley Miller each registered a field goal for the Blackhawks four points in the first.

In the second, Oxford started to find an offensive flow as Madalyn Barrows and Ellie Ryan got in on the scoring action. Barrows scored five and Ryan added four points in the stanza while Quigley and Miller each added another from inside the paint.

The Blackhawks tallied 13 points in the second quarter but Bainbridge-Guilford outscored the visiting team behind both Selfridge girls and Kori Thornton’s long-distance marksmanship. Thornton, who has come on with her deadly 3-point shooting as of late, hit back-to-back 3’s to kick the quarter off.
