GREENE – A rough shooting night by the host Lady Trojans of Greene was offset by their control of the glass as they went on to defeat the Oxford Blackhawks 36-22.

Receiving a combined total of 14 rebounds between Kylee Peck and Emma Smith as the Trojans out rebounded the Blackhawks 43-35.

With Greene leading by 10 at the halftime break, Oxford came out of the locker room and made things interesting in the early minutes of the third. Nearly erasing the deficit, the Blackhawks went on a 9-0 run.

The Trojans’ head coach Dave Gorton called a timeout, pulling his group back together. Following the timeout, Greene controlled the game defensively as they forced their opponent into 30 turnovers. That led to their pick up on the offensive end of the floor, scoring 11 points off the Blackhawks’ miscues.

“Our team defense was very good tonight and I was very pleased with the effort we gave,” said Gorton.
