Indians steal win from Marauders in 2nd half

BAINBRIDGE – Kori Thornton of Bainbridge-Guilford had her breakout game of the year, scoring 23 points as the Bobcats topped the Deposit/Hancock Eagles Monday for the second time this season, 69-52.

Thornton, a strong-shooting threat during B-G’s New York State Regional finals run a season ago, has been quiet this season. That changed Monday as she dialed in from long-distance, hitting seven 3-pointers in the contest for 21 of her game total.

Also having an outstanding performance in the contest were Abi and Erica Selfridge. Abi, the Bobcats leading scorer this season, shot 10-for-14 at the free throw line as she finished the night with game-high 29 points.

Erica, the younger Selfridge sister, recorded a double-double the hard way and was a point shy of picking up the triple-double in the contest. She ended the night with 12 assists and 10 rebounds as she added nine points to her statline.

Bainbridge-Guilford took a 17-9 lead after the first quarter and went into the halftime break with a nine point advantage as the Eagles witnessed six different players score to chip away at the deficit.

Out of the locker room after the intermission, Deposit/Hancock balanced their scoring through five players to score 18 points in the third, but Abi Selfridge and Thornton combined for 19 points as the Bobcats pushed the margin to double figures.
