CONKLIN – For the second time this season, the Lady Purple Tornado wore down the Susquehanna Valley Sabers to claim the Southern Tier Athletic Conference divisional win over the defending Class B New York State Champions, 48-26.

Norwich held a 9-8 lead after the first quarter but took control in the second and held the tempo for the remainder of the contest.

The Sabers stayed in the game during the first eight minutes of play due to Maeve Donnelly’s 4-for-4 performance at the free throw line to go along with her two made field goals.

However, the Tornado began to pull away in the second as Abby Flynn and Saige Benedict paced the visiting team to a 12-3 run. All points score by Sus Valley in the quarter again came from Donnelly’s two trips to the foul line. This time, she went 3-for-4.

Out of the halftime break, Norwich continued to build their lead, outscoring the Sabers 14-7 in the third behind Triniti Myers’ eight points – six coming from the deep ball.

In the final stanza, Susquehanna Valley scored eight points to tie their first quarter total but once again the Purple Tornado produced double figures to close out with a 13-8 fourth.
