Lady Vikings Dealt Back-to-back Losses At Joan Martin Classic

MORRIS – The Lady Vikings attended the Joan Martin Tournament, hosted by the Morris Mustangs, Thursday and Saturday of last week. Otselic Valley faced Morris in the opening round of the tournament and South Kortright on the final day but were handed losses in the both games.

Against South Kortright, the Vikings put together a double-figure fourth quarter scoring 10 points. It was their only double digit scoring stanza of the tournament. Gracie Costa paced OV with all eight of her points being scored stanza, six coming from beyond the 3-point arc.

Otselic Valley was led by Leah Kalin’s 10 points and seven rebounds. 

South Kortright’s Jordan Finch led all scorers with 20 points, most coming from inside the paint against the Vikings.

OV was held to just 12 points in the first round game against host Morris as a rough night shooting from the floor.

The a taller Mustangs team allowed the Vikings to score just three points in the first half and out rebounded the shorter OV lineup.

“It was tough to rebound against a team so much taller than us,” said Danielle Graham, Otselic Valley’s head coach. “My kids played with heart though.”

Elizabeth Thompson led Morris with 24 points in the contest, making four 3-pointers and six shots from other areas of the floor. Her teammate Samantha Barringer pulled in 12 rebounds to lead the Mustangs in the stat column.
