OXFORD – The Oxford Holiday Committee’s fifteenth annual Recycled Holiday Ornament contest winners were announced by the honorable Oxford Village Mayor, Terry Stark at the Holiday Festival of Lights on Sunday, December 2.

All 19 ornament entries from Oxford Academy Primary School are considered winners, and will receive Certificates of Recognition as a show of gratitude; however, place awards in each grade were selected.

Gift certificate prizes from Oxford merchants were sponsored by the Oxford Holiday Committee: Blueox Neighborhood Market gift certificates good for a large pizza, and Hoppie’s ice cream parlor for ice cream sundaes and hot chocolates topped with whipped cream. In addition, the DEC donated 'NY Recycles' calendars, and recycled bottles/cups, and for prizes.

The students, along with their families, who showed outstanding creativity among their peers and an exceptional understanding of the concept of recycling are:

In Pre-Kindergarten (UPK), 1st Place: From Mrs. Abbot's class, Anthony Baker for his glittered paper and plastic ornament.

In Kindergarten, 1st Place: from Mrs. Seiler's class, Calista Kappauf for her TP tube and cork Santa.
