MADISON – The home Madison Blue Devils put pressure on the Lady Vikings of Otselic Valley for the entire first quarter and jumped out to a 20-1 lead because of it. The Blue Devils won the game with a final score of 60-12 Wednesday.

A few minutes into the contest, Madison’s Kayla Usborne tallied the 1000th point of her career as she finished with 14 points in the eight minute stretch. Usborne added 10 more throughout the game to record a game-high 24 points.

As the Blue Devils applied the full-court pressure in the first, Otselic Valley’s head coach Danielle Graham said her team struggled to get the ball over the half court line.

With Madison taking the press off for the rest of the game, the Vikings were able to get the ball into their offensive half of the floor. However, they ran into a tough night shooting from the floor. The Devils defense also had strong half-court play, making it hard for OV to score.

The second quarter saw Otselic Valley put nine points on the scoreboard as Cassie Agren scored six points and Lexi Hazzard hit a shot from behind the 3-point arc.

Agren finished with a team-best seven points and added 11 rebounds to her statline. Maygan Roy of Otselic Valley pulled in nine boards off the glass in the loss.
