Tornado Scores 50 In Second Half To Come Away With Third Straight Win

Erickson scores 21 to lead Trojans past B-G; OV 2-0 in league play

CHENANGO VALLEY – After a flat start in the first half, the Norwich Purple Tornado scored 50 in the second half to take the lead in the fourth quarter to beat the Chenango Valley Warriors 74-63 for their third straight win of the season.

Norwich trailed by five in the first quarter and the slow start continued into the second stanza as the Warriors held a nine point lead at halftime. Helping keep his team in the game, Norwich’s J.T. Vinal tallied eight first half points while the the rest of the scoring was spread throughout the team.

Out of the break, the Purple Tornado went on a tear that was lead by Marcus Cashman’s 13 points the 25 point quarter for Norwich. Nine of Cashman’s points came from the 3-point line as he caught fire. However, Chenango Valley still held the advantage by two points as the two teams headed into the final eight minutes of play.

Also aiding in the Norwich comeback was their hard-nose defense and strong presence on the glass. As a team, the Tornado forced at least 12 turnovers by the Warriors and pulled down a total of 29 rebounds, 21 of them coming on the defensive end to allow CV just one-shot trips on their offensive end of the floor.
