OTEGO – The Sherburne-Earlville Marauders coaching staff bumped their wrestlers around to get each member of the team action on the mat against Unatego and Unadilla Valley in the first meet of the season for both teams.

With the U/UV team earning 24 points during the meet due to forfeits by Sherburne-Earlville, the host team was able to claim a 36-24 victory.

S-E’s Ethan Eldred planned on returning back to the line up after suffering an ankle injury at the Clyde Cole tournament last weekend and was placed at the 195 pound weight level. Head coach Bim Palmer’s move for Eldred paid off as they earned six points due to a forfeit by Unatego/Unadilla Valley.

Morgan Lakin, the Marauders 152 pounder, captured the first points of the night for the team by pinning his opponent just 42 seconds into the match.

Sherburne-Earlville’s Chyle Foster earned his first varsity win of his career by pinning U/UV’s James Wright at the 3:03 mark of the match.

Moving from his normal weight of 220 pounds, S-E’s Alex Thompson wrestled at 285 pounds during the meet against Jacob Marshall, Unatego and Unadilla Valley’s stand-out of the higher weight classes.
