The 2018 Clyde Cole Tournament Dedication was given to long-time teacher, coach and Clyde Cole Tournament referee and wrestling Hall of Famer Rick Armstrong (center). A former New York State wrestling champion from 1974, Armstrong was stand-out for the Whitney Point program. He then went on to wrestle at Cortland State where he became a three-time NCAA Division-III All-American, SUNYAC Champion and the 1978 National Champion. Armstrong first began his coaching career at Attica High School before becoming the assistant coach at Walton in the 1981-82 season. The following year, he become the head coach until his retirement in 2011. During his tenure as the head coach at Walton, Armstrong produced a record of 242-125-5. He has for several years and continues to be the Chairman for Section IV wrestling as well as officiating in the section. Standing with Rick is Dave Benseley, District Governor of Rotary and Anna Stark, President Elect of the Oxford Rotary.
