Public hearing for Oxford's $10.6 million capital project tonight

OXFORD – Oxford Academy and Central School will present a public hearing for a proposed $10.6 million capital building project to district residents at 6 p.m. Monday in the middle school conference room.

A public referendum to vote on the building project will take place from noon to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 11 at the Oxford High School media center, located at 50 S. Washington Avenue in Oxford. Monday's public hearing in the middle school conference room will be located at 12 Fort Hill Park Road in Oxford.

Highlights of the building project include the creation of STEAM classrooms (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math), enhancement of security at main entries, a new bus maintenance facility, replacement of roofs at all schools, fire alarm upgrades at all schools, classroom climate control upgrades, and a replaced boiler at the primary school.

The proposed building project comes after a 2015 New York State Building Condition and Staff Survey identified needs for roof and boiler replacement, fire alarm upgrades, entrance security upgrades, agriculture program upgrades, and classroom climate control upgrades in the district.
