NORWICH – The Chenango County Sheriff's Office charged a man with illegal dumping last week following an investigation into the appearance of a homeless camp previously refereed to as "tent city," by city officials.

David L. Button, 39, homeless, was charged with illegal dumping, a violation, after discarded trash, tents, beds, clothing, and hypodermic syringes were found along the Greenway Trail in the Town of Norwich.

"Button was one of the people who were responsible for creating tent city, but at this point the investigation is still ongoing," said Chenango County Sheriff's Office Lieutenant Joshua Gould.
