Ten Indicted On Felony Charges

NORWICH – Ten individuals were indicted on Wednesday and they are facing a variety of charges including rape, assault, and criminal sale of a controlled substance.

• Philip A. Cuda, 45, of Morris, was charged with first-degree assault, a class B felony, and two counts of second-degree assault, a class D felony.

Allegedly, on May 28, in the Town of Norwich, Cuda caused serious physical injuries to a victim by stabbing the victim in the stomach and the back with a knife; resulting in the victim undergoing emergency surgery.

• Edward M. Arenth, 30, of Coventry, was charged with second-degree assault, a class D felony, two counts of third-degree criminal mischief, a class E felony, and third-degree assault, a class A misdemeanor.

The indictment states on April 14, in the City of Norwich, Arenth used an airsoft gun, that fires hard plastic pellets, to shoot another person’s leg while they were crossing the street, causing them, “extreme pain.” It also stated Arenth shot two buildings with the airsoft gun, causing $1788.93 in property damage.

• Paul H. Russell Sr., 47, of Norwich, was charged with first-degree sexual abuse, a class D felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.

On May 7, in the City of Norwich, Russell allegedly made sexual contact with a child under 10-years-old.

• Mark A. Lunsford, was charged with third-degree rape, a class E felony, and forcible touching, a class A misdemeanor.
