Galena Growlers Place In Blackfly Challenge

INLET – Last Saturday, June 9, saw many locals went up to Inlet, NY for the 2018 Black Fly Challenge. The race included 914 riders registered, 843 at the starting line and 835 finishers. All record numbers for the event but the biggest number of the day was the 6,570 miles between Indian Lake, NY and winner Koki Gada. Gada’s hometown of Yokahama, Japan was considered the furthest-finisher of the event. 

The field saw two of the Galena Growlers place. In Junior Mountain Bike division, Stanton Baker of Plymouth (Norwich High School) placed at the top of the podium. Also placing in the division was teammate Daniel Scholl of North Norwich (Sherburne-Earlville Middle School) at third for the 38.5 mile race.
