SHERBURNE – Sherburne-Earlville student, Rebecca Turner, earned first place in the junior grade-level division at the Central New York Association of Music Teachers (CNYAMT) Vocal Competition on April 21.

"After I sang I knew I had done my very best," said Turner. "I’m not sure I had ever sang those songs as well as I had that day."

Competitors were asked to sing a song in a foreign language dating back to the 16th and 18th centuries, as well as an English song from any time period, and a third song selected at the discretion of the students and their teachers.
